As the storm clouds rolled in, a gas station attendant at a nearby town suggested we camp in Waverly’s city park for the night. Mom thought the idea of a city park that allowed camping was odd, but it really exists and it was beautiful!
The first afternoon a police officer came by to check on us and let us know that we were welcome to stay for up to 3 days, completely free. There was a clean port-a-potty for mom and plenty of things for me to sniff.
It turned out it was a really good thing we stopped – it rained so much we learned that the tent floats!
Because a second storm was slated to roll in, we spent the day relaxing. Mom played with her camera, I got to enjoy the view from our hammock. IT was a lovely day.
That night, we had a visitor. Did you know raccoons are BIGGER THAN I AM???? Scary guy tried to steal my kibble but fortunately he got scared off after I yelled at him for twenty minutes.
